These AI “acqui-hire” scenarios cannot be sustainable in the long run. I’m not a tax expert, but asset sales is highly tax inefficient when compared to a stock sale (e.g., double taxation).

Especially if the transaction value is modest (aka slightly above total funds raised) which would result in minimal returns for the VCs.

Are VCs fine with just getting their money back and founders / key employees get a highly paid job? What happened to the power law mentality and swinging for the fences? You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
